Welcome!

Thanks to you and your support, the Bayport Civic Association has been fulfilling its mission statement of maintaining and improving the quality of life for our residents and undertaking projects for the general welfare of the people of Bayport.

Over the past five years, the BCA has been hard at work. We have fought Town Hall on issues of overdevelopment, while working with them to preserve the Bayport Aerodrome, which thanks to our efforts has just been added to the New York State and Federal Registries of Historic Places. We have worked with the owners of the Bayport Adult Home -once slated as the site of a proposed homeless shelter- to have it rezoned as professional office space, while preserving its character. Our Civic was instrumental in reducing the size of the UA Condo development, while insuring the maximum number of acres to be forever preserved.  The BCA has had a wide variety of local elected and community leaders attend our monthly meetings to listen to our ideas and hear our concerns. The Bayport Civic takes pride in participating in beautification projects and community events.  Our Civic Association has successfully conducted its fourth annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway for the needy along with our “Adopt a Family for the Holidays” charity. We are about to award our fourth annual BCA Scholarship Award to the 2008 Bayport-Blue Point High School graduate who best excels in the performance of his/her Civic duties.

The BCA's April meeting will be held on Tuesday April 15th at the Bayport Methodist Church at 7pm.  We will have Bayport-Blue Point School District Superintendent Anthony Annunziato our special guest speaker.  Mr. Annunziato will be giving us an overview of the 2008-2009 School Budget as well as answering any related questions.  We'll also be discussing our strategy in battling against with the proposed 12 story cell tower on Lakeview Ave., as well as the latest on the "Green Monster", aka the LIRR fence.  As always we'll have refreshments and a raffle, so come on down and Get Involved!

Also, we are looking for volunteers to work on our Bayport Civic Newsletter, that thanks to Assemblywoman Ginny Fields looks to be turning into a reality.

Anyone interested in joining the Bayport Civic Association is urged to contact us at Draffin@BayportCivicAssociation.org , or you may fill out the membership application and mail it to us. Your ideas and input are crucial to making the organization a voice for the people of our beloved Bayport.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.
